7digital What we said: Despite having cut his teeth in hardcore punk and noise-rock outfits, Wesley Eisold’s most acclaimed musical venture to date has been synth-pop outfit Cold Cave. It’s not quite the great sonic U-turn it might seem though, with any suppressed punk energy expertly channeled into their glimmering, industrial darkwave. For the follow up to 2009’s Love Comes Close, the NYC-based four-piece have enlisted the art-rocker’s producer of choice - TVOTR/Yeah Yeah Yeahs collaborator Chris Coady - to bring an icy, epic sheen to their previously DIY aesthetic. And consequently, Cherish The Light Years is an intravenous shot of dramatic, gothic goodness that could provoke Dave Gahan to smear his eyeliner with tears of joy.
