7digital What we said: Aside from bird’s nest hair and regulation black leather, if there’s one thing we’ve come to expect from The Horrors it’s a change of direction with each full-length release. In this respect, their latest LP confounds preconceptions. With its vast walls of synths and shoegaze guitar – plus some knowing nods to MBV and The Bunnymen – Luminous is very much a continuation of 2011’s epic Skying. While there is progression here, it comes in their approach to production, surfacing in the slick sound of ‘In And Out And Sight’ and the streamlined groove of ‘So Now You Know’. All told, it’s a solid set, liberally sprinkled with highlights.
